Hi, I’m Kaiden, a product strategist and editorial designer.
I design audience-focused products that make journalism easier to find and understand. At The Connecticut Examiner and The Ithaca Times, I’ve launched newsletters, led research, and built brand systems.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me out running on a dirt trail.
Automated Hyperlocal Alerts • The Connecticut Examiner
The Connecticut Examiner is known for its in-depth reporting on local government, but the traffic numbers didn’t reflect that quality.
To bridge this gap, I ran surveys and analyzed engagement in Google Analytics, finding that while readers wanted local politics reporting, they weren’t finding the stories as they were published.
From these insights, I prototyped and scaled automated hyperlocal newsletters in 17 of our top-performing towns. After launch, email-driven traffic increased by 103%, and local alert subscribers were twice as engaged as general readers.
End User Branding & Distribution • The Ithacan
End User is a column that explores technology’s impact on privacy, work, and everyday life.
To support its launch, I collaborated with the opinion and social teams to define editorial and workflow objectives.
I used these goals to build a cohesive visual system across print, web, and social, along with a templated design system for streamlined social promotion workflows.
Local Expansion • The Ithaca Times
I’m currently helping launch The Ithaca Times’ first fully-digital expansion: a new local newsroom launching in early 2026.
I’m developing an audience research plan to identify reader information needs, guiding editorial and product strategy. Using those insights, I’m prototyping a Beehiiv-based newsletter and site, and building a unified brand and marketing plan to support the publication’s growth.
